Severed & Sovereign

We have been taught that self-improvement is synonymous with addition: more clutter, more “friends,” more cars, a bigger house. But what if less is actually more?
Hear me out. When we accumulate too much, our possessions transition from things we enjoy into things we must simply manage. We lose the thread of why they were meaningful in the first place. Adding more to an already chaotic world causes the very substance of our lives to lose the meaning it once held.
I am writing this today regarding the concept of the Severed and Sovereign. We are surrounded by opportunities to look into the mirror and discern what is truly vital versus what is merely the noise of a world hungry for external validation. What can we actually see within ourselves? That is the reflection where our focus belongs.

The Mask of Pride
We live in a world steeped in makeup and pride. Personally, I value people for the soul, yet this world obsesses over “fake aesthetics.” I would rather labor over my soul than spend three hours on “maintenance” and “getting ready” for a day that is already far too short. I see the beauty of fake nails, lashes, and hair—a face full of makeup—but when that veneer is stripped away, would you even recognize the person beneath?
I know this may be an “outsider” perspective and perhaps an unpopular opinion, but if you must mask yourself to be palatable or “confident” for others to like you, do they truly like you? Some claim they don’t care; they get what they want. But what they want is surface and shallow. It won’t add meaning when you are ninety on your deathbed, potentially surrounded by people who only want something from you—maybe your inheritance.

The Economy of Sovereignty
This applies to men as well—those who value the “fake” to project an image of “look what I can get.” When those looks fade, the world becomes loud again. This is the root of infidelity: we value the wrong things. There will always be someone “more attractive,” “more athletic,” “smarter,” or “richer.”
The world demands you compete. But what if you stopped? The moment you stop competing, your value increases significantly.
When you stop giving your time to those who never truly valued it, a shift occurs. They begin to respect your time only when you treat it as a sovereign resource. If you stop putting effort into the “mask” and start investing in the person you actually are, you increase your true value. Surface-level improvement doesn’t actually increase worth; it just changes the packaging.

The House of Peace
We must ask ourselves: What is a house filled with nice things when there is no peace? You can fill a mansion with gold, but if the air inside is heavy with anxiety and the noise of competition, the gold is worthless. True self-image is built through the process of purging and releasing. It is the intentional act of “severing” yourself from harmful habits, toxic validations, and the “low-vibration” need to be seen.
By continuously building on your internal foundation and releasing the things that steal your stillness, you become Sovereign. You no longer look to the world to tell you what you are worth. You look in the mirror and see a soul that is quiet, grounded, and real.
In a world full of noise, peace is the ultimate luxury. Look at your life today: what is one “nice thing” you are holding onto that is actually costing you your peace? Sever it. Reclaim your sovereignty.
