Made in His Image: Rediscovering the Beauty Within

By Amber Self Image Magazine

We live in a world obsessed with appearances. From filters to fashion, from anti-aging creams to curated selfies, the pressure to look “perfect” is relentless. But perfection, as the world defines it, is a moving target—and often a trap.
As believers, we’re called to a different standard. Not one of aesthetics, but of authenticity. Not one of outer polish, but of inner peace. Scripture reminds us again and again that God sees the heart—not the highlight reel.

“People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
— 1 Samuel 16:7

The Beauty That Doesn’t Fade
Outer beauty is fleeting. Skin ages. Bodies change. Styles evolve. But inner beauty—the kind that radiates from a soul anchored in grace, humility, and love—that’s eternal.
Proverbs 31 doesn’t praise a woman for her waistline or wardrobe. It honors her for her strength, her wisdom, her kindness. That’s the kind of beauty that transforms lives. That’s the kind of beauty that reflects Christ.

“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”
— Proverbs 31:30

What if the very things we try to hide—our scars, our stretch marks, our stories—are the things God wants to use? What if our “flaws” are actually fingerprints of grace?
Jesus didn’t come for the flawless. He came for the broken. The weary. The ones who feel unseen. And He calls us beautiful—not because of how we look, but because of who we are in Him.

A New Kind of Mirror
So the next time you look in the mirror, don’t ask, “Do I look good enough?” Ask, “Do I look like love?”
Do I reflect patience? Compassion? Joy?
Do I carry peace into the room?
Do I speak life into others?
Because that’s what beauty looks like in the Kingdom.

You are fearfully and wonderfully made—not because of your outer shell, but because of the Spirit that lives within you. You are a vessel of grace. A reflection of divine creativity. A living testimony.
Let’s stop chasing worldly beauty and start cultivating godly character. Let’s teach our daughters, our friends, and ourselves that the most radiant glow comes from a heart aligned with heaven.
You don’t need to be flawless to be faithful.
You don’t need to be admired to be anointed.
You are already enough—because He says so.
