For many, the word “God” comes wrapped in the heavy cloth of religion. We’ve been told that to find the Divine, we must go to a specific building or follow a specific ritual. But there is a massive difference between connecting with people who talk about God and connecting with God yourself.
Connecting with God isn’t a Sunday event; it is an everyday reality. It is a relationship, not a membership.
The Research of the Heart
People often ask, “How do I actually connect with God?” The answer is simple but requires commitment: You have to get to know Him. You can’t have a relationship with someone you haven’t studied.
In my life as a Christian, that means reading the Bible and researching who He is. You have to understand the character of God—how He acts, how He creates, and how He speaks. When you spend time in the Word and in prayer, you are learning His “voice.” You are learning the difference between a thought that is just yours and a “download” that is from Him.
Finding God in the “Everything”
The ultimate shift happens when you realize that God isn’t a destination you visit; He is the atmosphere you live in. Once you’ve spent the time getting to know His character, your eyes start to open. You begin finding God in everything.
You see Him in the timing of a “random” phone call. You see Him in the way a door closes to protect you from a path that wasn’t for you. When you are tuned in, the world stops being a collection of random accidents and starts being a canvas of His presence.

The Trap of the “Feeling”
This is where many people get lost: they mistake an emotional impulse for a divine lead. If you rely only on “feelings,” you are in danger. Feelings are flighty; they can be influenced by your ego, your desires, or even darker forces looking to lead you down a wrong path.
The devil doesn’t always show up looking like a monster; sometimes he shows up as an “easy way out” or a feeling that justifies a bad decision. If you don’t know the character of God, you might follow a “hunch” right off a cliff. This is why you must test every feeling against the Truth. If the “nudge” in your heart contradicts the Character of God in the Word, it is not God.

The Ultimate Truth-Checker
When you know God’s character, you have an Internal Compass that cannot be tricked.
If a “nudge” tells you to do something that goes against His character, you know it’s not Him.
Like, If a person tries to twist the Word to control you, you aren’t fooled because you’ve done the research yourself.
Things to watch out for:
- The Counterfeit: A feeling that tells you to hurt someone else to get ahead.
- The Truth: God’s character is one of justice and love.
- The Counterfeit: A “door opening” that requires you to compromise your integrity.
- The Truth: God never asks you to trade your soul for a shortcut.
Discernment becomes second nature. You recognize the “frequency” of Truth because you’ve spent so much time in it.
If you don’t spend that time, you’re just guessing. But when you stay in constant communication—talking to Him throughout your day as you would a friend—the static fades away. You start to see the path He has for you clearly, not because the path is easy, but because the Guide is familiar.

Finding God in the “Everything”
Once you’ve done the research, you begin finding God in everything. You see Him in the timing of a “random” phone call. You see Him in the way a door closes to protect you. When you are tuned in, the world stops being a collection of random accidents and starts being a canvas of His presence.
The Sovereign Partnership
Following the path God has for you requires the humility to say, “I know myself, but He knows the whole story.” This is the ultimate partnership.
You do the internal work to keep your vessel clean, and He provides the Sovereign Filter for everything that tries to enter your world.
When you find God in everything, you are never truly alone and you are never truly lost. You are simply a Sovereign Soul following a Divine Lead.
