Work Book Theme: I am not my Trauma

Day 1 — Naming the Truth

Affirmation: I am not what happened to me. I am who God says I am.
Reflection Prompt: Write down the lies trauma told you. Next to each, write a truth from Scripture.
Inner Child Exercise: Imagine your younger self sitting across from you. Write 3 things you want them to know today.

Day 2 — God’s Protection

Affirmation: Even in my darkest moments, God was with me.
Reflection Prompt: Recall a time you were redirected or protected.
Inner Child Exercise: Write a short letter to your younger self reminding them they were never alone.

Day 3 — Releasing Shame

Affirmation: Shame is not my name. I release what was never mine to carry.
Reflection Prompt: What burden have you carried that belonged to someone else?
Inner Child Exercise: Draw or describe a safe place where your inner child can rest.

Day 4 — Trusting the Process

Affirmation: I trust God’s plan, even when I don’t understand it.
Reflection Prompt: Write about a closed door that later revealed itself as protection.
Inner Child Exercise: Tell your younger self about one “no” that turned into a better “yes.”

Day 5 — Reclaiming Joy

Affirmation: Joy is my birthright, and I welcome it back into my life.
Reflection Prompt: List 3 small joys you can embrace today.
Inner Child Exercise: Do one playful activity your younger self loved. Journal how it felt.

Day 6 — Forgiveness and Freedom

Affirmation: I forgive to free myself, not to excuse the harm.
Reflection Prompt: What does forgiveness mean to you?
Inner Child Exercise: Write to your younger self: You never deserved what happened. You are free now.

Day 7 — Becoming Whole

Affirmation: I am not my trauma. I am whole, loved, and continually becoming.
Reflection Prompt: Write a prayer of gratitude for how far you’ve come.
Inner Child Exercise: Write a blessing over your inner child, affirming their worth and safety.

Closing Prayer

Lord, thank You for reminding me that I am not my trauma. Thank You for healing the broken places, for protecting me, and for restoring joy. Help me to walk in freedom, to nurture my inner child, and to live as the beloved creation You made me to be. Amen.
